I was a total
Depraved wretch
Salvation
I could not fetch

I was lost
In my sin
I needed
Christ’s propitiation

When I was 7 years old
In 1982
I was born again
Salvation, I did not eschew

God Almighty
Regenerated me
I was no longer Satan’s child
I was totally free

I was gifted
Faith and repentance
It is all because
Of Christ’s magnificence

I am now a child of God
Through spiritual adoption
I have a new nature
Saved by faith, not tradition

Now I live for Christ
I spread the gospel far and near
I exegete the Scriptures
I have nothing to fear

At the cross
Christ reconciled God and man
He followed the Father’s plan

Since the Fall
The natural man is mired in sin
He needed a propitiation

Without Christ, man has no hope
Only a sinless sacrifice
Would suffice

We thank the Lord
For His active obedience, totally
Our salvation is predicated on it completely

Penal substitutionary atonement saved us
All our sin was imputed to Christ at Calvary
His perfect righteousness we receive, you see

Christ preached in Hell
Many followed Him that day
They went to paradise without delay

On Easter Sunday
Christ rose, defeating death and sin
Thanks to this miracle, we win

God chose who would be saved before we were born
The Holy Spirit regenerates us
Then we go spiritually from minus to plus

The Lord grants us twin gifts
Faith and sincere repentance, when we heard the Word
Christ is our Savior and Lord

Our paschal sacrifice
His Sabbath rest
For us
Does suffice
On Holy Thursday
The Last Supper
Commenced
Christ revealed
The spiritual
Reality
Of the Bread
And Wine
We are blessed
Spiritually
Through these
Symbols
Taken for obedience
To the Lord
Next is Good Friday
On this day, Christ
Would suffer from
Brutal Roman torture
He was nailed
To a cross
Christ suffered
Great pain
His precious blood
Was shed
For the salvation
Of all the souls
That God the Father
Gave Him
At 3 pm
Christ commended
His spirit
To God the Father
Then Christ died
The sky darkened
And a huge earthquake
Occured
He was buried
In a rock tomb
A massive rock
Sealed the entrance
And Roman soldiers
Kept watch
On the third day
Easter Sunday
Christ was resurrected
Thus proving
That He is fully divine
As well as fully human
Christ defeated Satan
Sin and death
He who knew no sin
Became sin
To pay the price
To ransom us
And to enter
Through adoption
The children of God
All souls will be judged
By Christ the Lord
Truly, He is Lord of Lords
And King of Kings
The prophesied Messiah
Who would save His people
The Jews
As well as Gentiles
Let us be obedient
And follow Christ’s
Commandments
May our lives
Bear good fruit
Of the Holy Spirit

I was a totally depraved wretch
Salvation I could not catch

I was as wicked as could be
Who would save me from this misery

Man is dead in his sin
Totally unable to select God sovereign

We are chosen by God unconditionally
It is not due to any inherent quality

Christ’s atonement was limited
It was solely for the Elect, not merited

Christ receives all Who the Father gives
Only the Elect He forgives

The grace we receive is irresistible, you see
Through the effectual call, we are saved completely

The Holy Spirit quickens faith in our soul
We are regenerated and made a new creation whole

We are given the gifts of faith and repentance
Saved according to God’s preference

Scripture teaches perseverance of believers eternally
Our salvation is Christ’s work; we have eternal security

In my spiritual calculus
We go from minus to plus

Christ overcame sin and death
We’ll be with Him after our last breath

Christ set us totally free
No longer a slave to sin, you see

Christ was without any sin
He alone was our propitiation

Man’s sin was imputed to Him, we believe
Christ’s perfect righteousness we receive

Thank God for Christ’s active obedience
It defeats every single malfeasance

I revel in penal substitutionary atonement
Every soul shall witness His enthronement

God gifts the Elect faith, that’s true
And repentance also for you

Man was born in sin
Christ was our propitiation

He hung on a tree
To set us free

On the third day, Christ was resurrected
In Him, our faith is perfected

He bore the Father’s wrath
This was Christ’s path

He was without sin at all
It is Christ Who we enthrall

The grave could not hold Him, you see
On Easter Sunday, He rose magnificently

He will return to Rapture the Church
The unbelievers will be left in the lurch

I travel through time
My journeys are sublime

I use a phased mind warp, you see
Allows travel at a superluminal velocity

I was at the Big Bang
Saw the universe’s birth pang

I visited ancient Rome
I was far from home

I saw medieval England
And also Ireland

I feasted with King Arthur in Camelot
I dined and ate a lot

I met with Shakespeare
His plays made me cheer

I met with samurai in ancient Japan
It all went according to my plan

I lived with the Puritans in America
The unbelievers were an anathema

Finally, I returned to my own time
Thus ends my rhyme

Because of Christ’s deed
Mankind is freed

Free from the depths of sin
Christ is our propitiation

He was sinless and so pure
Sin is the disease, and Christ is the cure

To Him, all our sin was imputed
Reformed theology cannot be refuted

The gifts of repentance and faith we receive
It is us who Satan no longer has the power to deceive

Our totally depraved old nature is gone
We walk in our new nature; it’s a bright dawn

The Image of God is restored in the Elect
We are to be spiritually disciplined and circumspect

Salvation is assured; it is to Christ to whom we will submit
When we receive the quickening of the Holy Spirit

We are given twin gifts
Of repentance and faith, our soul uplifts

Our justification is grounded in faith alone
Hearts of stone become hearts of flesh, since Christ did atone

For the Elect
He did atone
Salvation is found
In Him alone

Islam has
No salvation
It’s just
An abomination

Mohammed
Cannot save
He is in
A grave

Mohammed was a liar
A murderer and a pedophile
He raped and lied
His teachings were juvenile

His soul
Is in Hell
Mohammed was no prophet
Many heard his death knell

There is no salvation
In Hinduism, you see
It has many false gods
Under it, you cannot be free

There is no salvation
In Buddhism, for you or me
Buddha is dead
He’s burning in hell so fiery

There is no salvation
In animism or ancestor worship
These beliefs are rife in Africa
Christ alone has Lordship

There is no salvation
In Judaism at all
They reject Jesus the Messiah
Some were saved, such as Paul

By God’s sovereign grace
It alone can redeem
The human race

Assurance of our salvation
It is such a blessing
It’s for those born again
Sharing the Gospel is pressing

We thank the Lord
For quickening our soul
We’re gifted repentance and faith
And made spiritually whole

We have a new life in Christ
Our old, depraved self is gone
We live by the Holy Spirit
No longer do we face scorn
