In the newness of life

My big sister
Vi and I
Went to
The mountains
In springtime
We swam
In a
Crystal clear
Lake
We built
A log cabin
Our garden
Was overflowing
With vegetables
We fed
The deer
And the bears
We went hiking
In the mountains
For the long
Cold winter
I chopped
Plenty of
Firewood
After the first
Big snow
We put on
Our snowshoes
And hunted
Rabbits
Later Vi cooked
A delicious
Rabbit stew
We had
Bird feeders
We watched
Hummingbirds
Hovering
We read
Many books
Vi made me
Coffee
Every morning
She cooked up
Bacon and eggs
We had livestock
Pigs, lambs, goats
Cows and chickens
Finally winter
Was over
We celebrated
The arrival
Of springtime

My dear big sister Vi
Is simply the best
She’s better than
All the rest

She is special
In every way
For her health and safety
I will always pray

I am privileged to live with her
These past 22 years
We are best friends
I shed happy tears

Vi is a gifted artist
And a poet too, I’m sure
She graduated from Seton Hill
With a degree in English literature

We have fun
Chatting for hours
We listen to music
I give her flowers

Vi keeps our home clean
She is a hard worker
She cooks us delicious food
Vi is very clever

I thank God
For giving me such a nice sister
She is a born-again believer
We both love winter

I struggle with mental illness
It can be vicious

My mind’s sky is black
I’m under a psychiatric attack

Every single day, I’m depressed
I see no point in getting dressed

I lack motivation
It’s a difficult situation

I have many a disjointed thought
My mind’s in a knot

Sometimes I have dissociation
I require medication

My grasp of reality can be tenuous
I can at times feel worthless

I have hallucinations
It’s my mind’s machinations

I suffer from anxiety, too
Stress I must eschew

I long to have a sound mind
Healing, I must find

Need moments
Of solitude
To quietly
Reflect
On their lives
And to meditate
On God’s Word
Consider
The sound of
Torrential rain
As it hits
My bedroom
Window
Breathe in
The fresh air
Nature testifies
To the reality
Of God the Creator
In Christ
We find true
Sabbath rest
I built
A log cabin
In the
Alaskan wilderness
I fish
In the lake
I cut wood
To burn
In my stove
During winter
I put on
My snowshoes
With my rifle
I shot several
Rabbits
Back at home
I made
Rabbit stew
I fall asleep
Dreaming of
Christmas

Out of love
Christ came to earth
Through the Virgin Mary
She gave birth

He would save
Mankind
In Christ all truth
You will find

In Him alone
Will man find salvation
Christ gave us
Spiritual emancipation

Those who have
Repented and believe
In Christ alone
Satan cannot deceive

We are a
New creation
Born again
Thanks to His expiation

In Christ
Our salvation is secure
We won’t face deception
By the Babylonian Whore

At the sound
Of the death knell
Christ descended
Into hell

He set
The captives free
No longer full
Of misery

Preach
The full counsel
Of the Lord
May God rebuke the Devil

God is sovereign
Over all
Man has been tainted
With sin since the Fall

The natural man
Is desperately wicked
His soul
Is sickened

Until God intervenes
Man is spiritually dead
He has a stone heart
Once saved, we have no dread

At Calvary
Christ bled and died
He will be
Forever magnified

Our salvation
Is procured
By Christ’s sacrifice
By His firm grip we’re secured

Penal substitutionary atonement
Is absolutely true
All our sin was imputed to Christ
He was the Lamb who died for the few

Believers receive
Christ’s perfect righteousness
All our sins
Are heinous

Faith comes by hearing
Once a soul is regenerated
They receive faith and repentance
No longer are they degenerated

Our blessed hope
Is Christ’s return
Those unbelievers
Will in hell burn

You blessed us

Wonderful food

Voice

She said
I cherish
These memories
We used to chat
Every day
On the phone
I think of you
Often
Your smile
Lit up
The room
You’re in
Heaven now
I look forward
To us being

I crave a hot pizza pie
I’m not telling a lie

Pile the food high on my table
This is no fable

I want a Chinese buffet
I’ll eat it without delay

A lobster tail is very nice
It’s worth a steep price

A juicy Wagyu hamburger is delish
Give me all the food, that’s my wish

I’ll have a steak and cheese hoagie
Also, I want many a pierogi

A delectable ribeye steak sure would be nice
It’s worth the price

I want a slice of cherry pie
Give me a sandwich of turkey on rye

Spaghetti and meatballs are a great treat
I love to eat delicious meat

I need a succulent baked ham
And some roast lamb

A delicious bowl of chili is out of sight
Fried chicken with hot sauce is a delight

I’ll devour fish and chips with malted vinegar
I’m the food conqueror
