Mountain Life
My big sister
Vi and I
Went to
The mountains
In springtime
We swam
In a
Crystal clear
Lake
We built
A log cabin
Our garden
Was overflowing
With vegetables
We fed
The deer
And the bears
We went hiking
In the mountains
For the long
Cold winter
I chopped
Plenty of
Firewood
After the first
Big snow
We put on
Our snowshoes
And hunted
Rabbits
Later Vi cooked
A delicious
Rabbit stew
We had
Bird feeders
We watched
Hummingbirds
Hovering
We read
Many books
Vi made me
Coffee
Every morning
She cooked up
Bacon and eggs
We had livestock
Pigs, lambs, goats
Cows and chickens
Finally winter
Was over
We celebrated
The arrival
Of springtimeby Zachary Uram

Is simply the best
She’s better than
All the restShe is special
In every way
For her health and safety
I will always prayI am privileged to live with her
These past 22 years
We are best friends

And a poet too, I’m sure
She graduated from Seton Hill
With a degree in English literatureWe have fun
Chatting for hours
We listen to music
I give her flowersVi keeps our home clean
She is a hard worker
She cooks us delicious food
Vi is very cleverI thank God
For giving me such a nice sister
She is a born-again believer

My Struggle With Mental Illness
I struggle with mental illness
It can be viciousMy mind’s sky is black
I’m under a psychiatric attackEvery single day, I’m depressed
I see no point in getting dressedI lack motivation
It’s a difficult situationI have many a disjointed thought
My mind’s in a knotSometimes I have dissociation
I require medicationMy grasp of reality can be tenuous
I can at times feel worthlessI have hallucinations
It’s my mind’s machinationsI suffer from anxiety, too
Stress I must eschewI long to have a sound mind

Solitude
All people
Need moments
Of solitude
To quietly
Reflect
On their lives
And to meditate
On God’s Word
Consider
The sound of
Torrential rain
As it hits
My bedroom
Window
Breathe in
The fresh air
Nature testifies
To the reality
Of God the Creator
In Christ
We find true
Sabbath rest
I built
A log cabin
In the
Alaskan wilderness
I fish
In the lake
I cut wood
To burn
In my stove
During winter
I put on
My snowshoes
With my rifle
I shot several
Rabbits
Back at home
I made
Rabbit stew
I fall asleep

Mankind
In Christ all truth
You will findIn Him alone
Will man find salvation

Spiritual emancipationThose who have
Repented and believe
In Christ alone

Preach
The full counsel
Of the Lord
May God rebuke the DevilGod is sovereign
Over all
Man has been tainted
With sin since the FallThe natural man
Is desperately wicked
His soul
Is sickenedUntil God intervenes
Man is spiritually dead
He has a stone heart
Once saved, we have no dreadAt Calvary
Christ bled and died
He will be
Forever magnifiedOur salvation
Is procured
By Christ’s sacrifice
By His firm grip we’re securedPenal substitutionary atonement
Is absolutely true
All our sin was imputed to Christ
He was the Lamb who died for the fewBelievers receive
Christ’s perfect righteousness
All our sins
Are heinousFaith comes by hearing
Once a soul is regenerated
They receive faith and repentance
No longer are they degeneratedOur blessed hope

My Dear Gramma
My dear
Polish American
Gramma
You showed
Your family love
Through
Your cooking
You were truly
The best cook
I ever knew
I will
Never forget
Your baked ham
Paska and pierogies
Kapusta and halushki
Macaroni salad
Fresh sausage
And galumpkis
At Christmas
And Easter
You blessed us
With such
Wonderful food
I can still
Recall Gramma’s
Voice
“Eat up!”
“Plenty left!”
She said
I cherish
These memories
We used to chat
Every day
On the phone
I think of you
Often
Your smile
Lit up
The room
You’re in
Heaven now
I look forward
To us being
Reunitedby Zachary Uram

Grizzly
I am a mighty grizzly bear
When people are near me, they feel fearI am known to growl
When my mood is foulI ate honey from a beehive
It helped me to surviveI can outrun, outswim, and outclimb
Human beings, it’s so sublimeWhen I stand up, I’m ten feet tall
Sometimes with other grizzlies, I brawlI feed on salmon swimming upstream
In the forest, I reign supremeI weigh seven hundred pounds
I can easily defeat a pack of houndsIn winter, I hibernate
When I wake up in spring, I feel greatby Zachary Uram
