Living with
Severe mental illness
Isn’t easy
I feel things deeply

I try to navigate
The chaos
In my troubled mind
Relief, I must find

I am plagued
With inner voices
I often have a hallucination
They are an aggravation

I’ve had several mental illnesses
For nearly 25 years
I am quite insane
I possess a defective brain

I also deal with delusions
When I’m in
A certain mental state
Please do not berate

I have anxiety
It troubles me
So much
I need a mental crutch

It’s a cold winter day
I have much to say

Outside, it’s freezing
A good book I’m reading

Children race down a hill
Oh, what a thrill

Vi and I took a sleigh ride
We went around the countryside

When we returned home
We had mugs of cocoa, with my tome

I read for a while
Then, I chopped firewood into a pile

Finally, we got comfy in our beds
After I took my nighttime meds

Fresh snow was falling
I heard an owl calling

It’s a special time
Easter is here
A time for cheer

We celebrate
Christ’s victory
Over sin you see

At Calvary
He bore our sin
Christ was our propitiation

On the third day
He rose from the dead
Christ’s blood was shed

He defeated
Death and sin
We’re free from sin’s prison

All our sin is forgiven
When we are regenerated
Union with Christ is achieved

We’ll live with Him
In the new heaven and earth
Christ gave us a second birth

Now praise the Father
And the Son
With the Holy Spirit
Three in One

Our Mighty God
Is triune
We should sing
That tune

Our God is perfect
In every single way you see
He is sovereign
With absolute authority

From the dirt
God created man
It was supernatural
He had a plan

Christ came
To earth
So men could have
The new birth

Christ was
Without any sin
On the cross
He was our propitiation

We give God
Thanks
For all
That He has
Bestowed on us
We shall
Have a feast
To celebrate
Our freedom
In Christ
Bring on
The food
Roasted turkey
Stuffing
Mashed potatoes
Mushroom gravy
Cranberry gel
Whole cranberry
Sauce
Sweet potato
Caserole
Brussel sprouts
Pumpkin pie
Pumpkin mousse
Apple cider
Green bean
Caserole
Crescent rolls
Cranberry
Ginger ale
Egg nog
God has
Blessed us
So abundantly
We should always
Be thankful
Especially for
Christ’s sacrifice
So we may be
Redeemed

I am depressed, you see
I have such misery

I lack motivation
I don’t have elation

I have a broken mind
Healing, I must find

I long to be whole
I’m on the dole

I often feel sad
And sometimes I’m mad

I take medication
It helps my situation

Mental illness is tough
My mind’s state is rough

I love animals
Of every shape and size
There are none I despise

How I long
To have pet dogs
I even want hogs

Send me felines
And bunnies too
No animals I eschew

A pet hippo
Would be nice
Tigers suffice

A dolphin
Is great
A chihuahua cleans his plate

A grizzly bear
It’s so fun
Don’t shoot it with a gun

It’s a lovely winter day
I feel rather gay

It’s snowing
Such a beautiful morning

I see a blanket of white
Millions of diamonds shining bright

The air is very cold
My journey is bold

I saw my breath in the air
Such a perfect winter’s day is rare

I walk back home
No longer will I roam

I curl up by the fire
I meditate on what did transpire

I am flat broke
It’s no joke

Money I need
It starts with a seed

All my funds
Are moribunds

I lack cash
It’s worse than a rash

I need some dough
Let the money flow

I pray that God will bless me
I need financial prosperity

I hope I will not lack
I need cash by the stack

Echoing down our street
The thunder boomed
It shook our home
Then lightning loomed

The bolts of plasma
Struck all around
The thunder made
A deafening sound

The rain was torrential
The wind was strong
I started singing
A gospel song

For a long time
I watched the weather
It was calming
I felt better

The storm passed
The air smelled fresh
I soon felt
A refresh
