• Spring

    I walk
    In the spring rain
    It helps me stay sane

    I hike
    To the mountain top
    I’ll go until I stop

    I breath
    Very deep
    The hill is steep

    I think
    Of my childhood
    Memories highly valued

    I run
    In the fields of grass
    I met a beautiful lass

    I climb
    Up a tree
    I feel free

    I sleep
    And dream all night
    It was a delight

  • Good News of Christ the Lord

    Jesus came to earth
To give man a second birth

In the manger, Jesus did lie
The three wise men stopped by

He was free from all sin
    Jesus would be our propitiation

    On the cross, He hung
    His praises man has sung

    Jesus bore God’s full wrath
    That was His path

    His blood saved us all
Thank God for the effectual call

On the third day, Jesus rose, you see
He defeated Satan, death, and sin completely

For sure is the Elect’s salvation
We’re predestined by God for liberation

We are free from the bondage of sin
    In Christ, we win

    Those who are born again
We shall praise God, that’s our refrain

  • The New Birth

    Man’s election
    Is due to
    Christ’s perfection
    He is the Messiah

    Through God’s graciousness
Our sin is imputed to Christ
    His perfect righteousness
    We receive

    We are born from above
    Christ suffered and died
    Out of love
    We’re born again

    The natural man
    Is spiritually dead
    Christ followed God’s plan
    When regenerated, we become alive

    We receive faith and repentance
After the Holy Spirit quickens our souls
    It isn’t by happenstance
We, the Elect, were predestined to salvation

  • The Gospel: Briefly Stated

    Jesus bled
    In our stead

    He bore God’s wrath
    That was His path

    He took His last breath
    Christ wasn’t defeated by death

He did not lie in repose
On the third day, Christ rose

He defeated Satan, death, and sin
    His death was a propitiation

We’ll live with Christ in heaven
    Of this I am certain

    God regenerates a dead soul
We receive eternal life in full

We are gifted faith and repentance
Through Christ alone we gain acceptance

    We are born again
A new creation, no longer a prisoner of sin

  • An Autumn Day

    It was
    A beautiful
    Chilly autumn day
    I saw
    A panoply
    Of multi-hued
    Foliage
    Under my feet
    Leaves crunched
    Satisfyingly
    It began
    To drizzle
    I headed home
    Warmed myself
    At the fireplace
    I sipped
    A cup
    Of pumpkin spice
    Latte
    I curled up
    On the couch
    And fell asleep
    Dreaming of
    Christmas

  • My Birthday

    Today I turn fifty
    I am full of glee

    Vi and I will celebrate
    It sure is great

    We’ll eat club sandwiches
    Hunger it banishes

    I’m half a century old
My faith in Christ is bold

I thank God for my life
I hope the next year has little strife

The Lord has blessed me in so many ways
    I am one who prays

    As I look back
I see that Christ kept me on track

  • The Emerald Isle

    I set sail
    For a distant land
    I guided the boat
    With my hand

    I landed in
    The Emerald Isle
    I walked
    For a mile

    I came across
    A huge rainbow
    It reminded me of
    The love God did bestow

    I saw a Celtic cross
    It was carved from stone
    The light of Christ
    Had shone

    I spied a wee leprechaun
It had a pot of gold
    He was
    Very old

    I walked barefoot
    In the lush green grass
    I dreamt of
    A beautiful Irish lass

    I sailed back home
    I had many happy memories
    Of Ireland
It was the stuff of fantasies

  • A Gospel Primer

If you have a carnal mind
You are limited in so many ways
The truth you will not find

    Christ is the eternal Logos
He is the very Word of God
Of everything, He is the source

    God spoke the Word
    And the universe was created
    It’s not absurd

    The Lord created orders
The universe was created with a purpose
The Elect are God’s sons and daughters

We are children of God by adoption
The Holy Spirit quickens our souls
It’s possible due to Christ’s resurrection

    On the cross
    Jesus suffered and died
    It seemed such a loss

But death could not hold Christ the Lord
On the third day, He rose
In the tomb, massive energy poured

Faith comes by hearing, not happenstance
We are transformed from spiritual death to life
Then we receive faith and repentance

  • A Snapshot

    I’m fatigued totally
    I suffer from lethargy

Vi and I heard a raven
Made our backyard tree its haven

We are footloose and fancy free
    We enjoy writing poetry

    We ran in the rain
    It made us insane

Like Bereans, we study the Bible carefully
Great knowledge is imparted to Vi and me

    We are barking mad
    It’s a situation quite sad

    We enjoy English literature
In our home, it is a fixture

I travel the universe in my spare time
By employing phased mind warps sublime

  • Redemption

    In Adam, we all fell
    We’re in a prison cell

    This prison is sin
    We need redemption

    Adam is our federal head
    We are spiritually dead

    We are totally depraved
In Christ alone are we saved

Thank God for the effectual call
Satan shall no longer us enthrall

God chose who He would save
It wasn’t based on how we behave

It wasn’t due to any action or quality
    God’s reasons are a mystery

The Holy Spirit quickens a soul
We are transformed as a whole

    We receive faith and repentance
    This isn’t happenstance

Once regenerated, we receive a new nature
Trapped by sin no more, we don’t labor
