• My Day in a Rainforest

    I entered a rainforest
    The air was still
    I walked deep into it
    I was expecting a thrill

    Above me was
    A green canopy
    A shaft of light
    Shined next to me

    I heard birds singing
    It was a sweet sound
    Then I saw flowers
I was happy with what I found

    A mighty jaguar
Lounged on a branch of a tree
    It licked its paws
    And stared straight at me

    Ahead of me
    I saw a silverback gorilla
    It beat its chest
All around was life, a plethora

    A tucan flew past
    In the air above me
    Such vibrant colored feathers
It landed on a huge tree

    In the trees
    I saw monkeys
    Eating some fruit
    They had cute babies

  • My Exciting Life

    I travel the universe
    At a superluminal speed
    From the confines
Of space and time I’m freed

I use a phased mind warp
    It lets my consciousness
    Travel faster than light
    I have fearlessness

    One day, I may visit
    A supermassive black hole
    It’s quite different than
Sitting at home on the dole

    I go on journeys
    Through time
    Both the past and future
    It’s quite sublime

    God has given me
    Special powers
    I’ll keep traveling
    For many hours

  • My Battle with Mental Illness

    I have shed
    Many a tear
    Due to mental illness
    Inner voices I do hear

    My mind doesn’t work
    As it should
    Jesus died for my sins
He hung on a cross of wood

I know we all must suffer
But in Christ our victory is won
    He resurrected on Sunday
I will forever praise the Son

    I get very depressed
    Every single day
    I lack motivation
    I want to feel gay

    I’ve struggled with insomnia
A side effect of one of my drugs
    My thoughts are troubled
I tell my sister Vi, and she shrugs

    Living with Vi
Is good for my mental health
    Her support and companionship
Means more to me than wealth

    One day in the future
My mind will be whole, you see
    No more hallucinations or delusions
    I’ll be finally free

  • Born From Above

    Amazing grace
    That rescued me
    I once was blind
    But now I see

    Spiritual death
    Is the natural man’s lot
    When we’re born again
The Holy Spirit enters our heart

All our sins are washed away
Jesus’ blood takes away all sin
    We are truly saved
    Because of His propitiation

    Jesus beckons
    “Come, follow Me.”
    Christ alone
    Sets men free

No way to God the Father
    Except through God the Son
    Every single saint is
    A cherished chosen one

  • Baptism Considered

    Overview

Baptism is a vital activity that is done in obedience to Christ’s command. Different Christian churches believe in what baptism is differently. I will argue for what I believe Scripture clearly teaches about baptism.

    Baptismal Regeneration

Some churches, such as Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, as well as certain Anglicans, believe in what is called baptismal regeneration. This is the belief that when a person is baptized, using the formula “In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit I baptize you,” they are saved at that moment, and they are now regenerated.

This doctrine has several problems. First, it may be a source of comfort, but it is not how baptism is proscribed in Scripture.

Proponents of baptismal regeneration believe that if the formula of baptism is used, that person will absolutely surely be regenerated. This betrays a misunderstanding of how baptism works. Baptism is an outward sign of an inward belief. It does not confer salvation. Whether you baptize a baby, an atheist, or a Muslim, one cannot force the Holy Spirit to regenerate them. And none of these people will be regenerated by virtue of their water baptism.

There is an inherent misunderstanding in the mechanics of salvation. Baptism is a work of man. Scripture is clear that faith comes by hearing, and that the way to be saved is to be born again. This happens through sincere repentance, after hearing the gospel, and believing the gospel, which is clear that the object of our faith is in Christ alone.

    Infant Baptism

True baptism is for people who have at least reached the age where they can understand the gospel and sincerely repent and trust in Christ alone. I was regenerated at age 7. Infants can’t do this. There is not a single unambiguous, straightforward example of infant baptism in all of Scripture.

The entrance to the Old Covenant was circumcision of an infant. This was a work of man. The entrance to the New Covenant is spiritual circumcision of the heart. It is the work of the Holy Spirit.

Sadly, even Reformed believers have fallen into error by affirming infant baptism. Presbyterians are guilty of this. They say they have “covenant children”, but the infant is not able to enter any covenant.

    Conclusion

Baptism is a wonderful thing. It’s done according to Christ’s command. All believers should have credobaptism. But Scripture does not teach baptismal regeneration or regular infant baptism.

  • A Climber’s Tale

    I climbed
    The mountain high
    I could almost
    Touch the sky

    I made the ascent
    Up the Everest mountain
    Guided by my sherpa
    His knowledge was certain

    As we climbed
    Tens of thousands of feet
    The air grew thin
I could feel my heart beat

    After much arduous effort
We reached the summit at last
    It was an exhilarating moment
Our view lets us see vast places

We could look around and see
    In every single direction
We had a strong sense of euphoria
    And we felt elation

Our trip to the base of Everest
Went smoothly thanks to God alone
We were exhausted from the climbing
Our climbing skills we did hone

  • The End Times

    The Rapture
    Is our
    Blessed hope
    We don’t rely
    On man, or
    Even a pope
    The last
    Trumpet
    Will sound
    In an instant
    The dead
    In Christ
    Will rise
    Then the living
    In Christ
    Will also rise
    We shall be
    Caught up
    To meet Christ
    In the air
    God raised up
    Mighty men
    Of faith
    Like John Darby
    Dispesationalism
    Is true
    The eschatology of
    Premillennialism
    Is absolutely
    Valid
    Christ will
    Return to Earth
    Before
    The Millennium
    This is the
    Second Coming
    Jesus will rule
    From Jerusalem
    For a millennium
    I am edified
    By reading
    The Scofield
    Study Bible
    The glorious
    Rapture
    Shall occur
    Before
    The Great
    Tribulation
    When God’s wrath
    Is poured out
    Onto the earth
    There is no
    Need to fear
    If you have
    The second birth

  • Easter Reflections

I was a wretched sinner, you see
I deserved Hell for an eternity

At Calvary, Jesus suffered and died
At the foot of the cross, Mary and John cried

    All hope seemed lost
But Christ paid the ultimate cost

By His stripes we are healed
By Christ’s blood we are sealed

Jesus, the perfect Passover Lamb of God Almighty
All our sins are forgiven with no falsity

He sacrificed Himself to save us all
We come to Jesus through the effectual call

Jesus was not killed by the Roman soldiers at all
He yielded up His spirit as an act of His will

On the third day, Sunday, Jesus was risen
He defeated Satan, death, and all sin

Jesus is returning to rapture His Church
Don’t be left in the lurch

We must spread the gospel far and near
So that every man will hear

  • Somewhere Over the Rainbow

This song, recorded by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, is very beautiful and soothing. Known in Hawaii as “IZ” or “Brother IZ”.

He went to the music studio at 3am and recorded this song in one take. Remarkable.

Sadly, he died too young because of his high weight.

This performance has been viewed on YouTube over 1.5 billion times! A testament to this gentle giant who poured himself into his music.

  • Deep Peace

I recently came across this song, “Deep Peace”, by Bill Douglas. You can visit his website here.

This composition is beautiful and ethereal. It’s very soothing!
