• Election to Salvation

    I thank God
    For His redeeming grace
    It alone can save
    The human race

    God is sovereign
    Absolutely
    He chooses which men
    Will be set free

Jesus is the Son of God
He lived a life free of sin
    At Calvary, He was
    Our propitiation

    Jesus was
    A perfect sacrifice
For our sins, He did atone
    He paid the price

    For six hours
    On the cross, Jesus hung
All of our sin was imputed to Him
His praises will forever be sung

    For God’s good pleasure
    He chose the Elect
It is God, and not man
    Who does select

    The natural man
    Is spiritually dead
    Once regenerated
    Eternity with Christ lies ahead

  • A Christmas to Remember

    Under the mistletoe
I saw Mommy and Daddy kiss
    It was true love
    And pure bliss

    Gramma cooked
    The baked ham
    It tasted
    Even better than lamb

    She also made
    Fresh kielbasa so yummy
    We devoured it
    We had a happy belly

    Daddy and us kids
    Drove out near the airport
    We bought a Christmas tree
    The best one we caught

    We decorated our front door
With a wreath made of holly
    We had the Christmas spirit
    We were quite jolly

    We had a white Christmas
    How beautiful is the snow
    We drove around and saw
    All the Christmas lights aglow

My dear sister Vi and I
    Went on a sleigh ride
    I was happy she was
    By my side

    At home, we listened
    To Christmas songs
    Jesus came to earth
    To right the wrongs

  • Dealing With Depression

    I’m totally depressed today
My mind is full of dismay

    I’m down in the dumps
    Slowly, my heart pumps

    I have no motivation
    I suffer from major depression

    I long to be free
    From this mental misery

    I have profound sadness
    I’d rather have happiness

I lie in bed all day
Like a beached whale, I say

My medication helps me a bit
    I follow Holy Writ

  • Gospel Truth

    Rejoice brethren
    And have mirth
    Jesus came to save
    The sons of earth

    He came as
    A helpless baby
    Our precious Redeemer
    Christ is so mighty

    And He shall purify
    In Christ, we are victorious
By His Blood we are saved
    Sin no longer destroys us

    Because of Christ’s atonement
    Man can be free
    Salvation is available
    For many people and me

    We shall be with Christ
    Now and forever
    Our faith doesn’t depend
    Behold His splendor

    In Christ’s first advent
    He came as the Lamb
    At His second coming
He will be the mighty Ram

  • Paradise: Lost and Regained

    In the Fall
    Communion was lost
    With God, you see
    We were mired
    In total depravity

    We lost the Imago Dei
    Once saved, our relationship
    With God is restored
    Through sovereign grace
    From Christ the Lord

    On a cold December
    In a manger in Bethlehem
    In the early morn
    Emmanuel our Savior
    Was born

    Christmas is a magical
    Time of the year
    Have a joyous Noel
    Jesus is
    The King of Israel

    The magi came following
    The Christmas star
    It drew them nigh
    Once they arrived
It was Jesus they did spy

    Christ was crucified
    At Calvary
    Where He bled
    He said, “It is finished.”
    And then He was dead

    The grave couldn’t hold Him
    On the third day
    Christ was resurrected
    He defeated death and sin
    So man can be regenerated

    Christ is coming back
    We’ll spend an eternity
    With Jesus, in the New
    Heaven and New Earth
    All sin we will eschew

  • A Winter Excursion

    I awoke at five
    In the morning
    I commenced praying

    I stepped outside
    On a cold winter’s day
    The snow was on display

    Around me was
    A winter wonderland
    Snowflakes fell on my hand

    I could see
    My breath in the air
    I said a prayer

    As the street lights
    Shone down on the snow
    It was like diamonds aglow

    I walked down a trail
    In Schenley Park
    It was still dark

    What I saw was magical
    Snow was two feet deep
    Such beauty made angels weep

    As I trekked onwards
A lone fox ran past me
Looking up, a hawk I did see

    I was finally back home
It was a day I’d never forget
    These moments helped my mindset

I had a cup of cocoa
And got cozy in my bed
    Memories danced in my head

  • Starbucks

    Vi and I love
    Starbucks frappuccinos
    They’re better than Al Pacino

    I prefer a caramel one
    With 2 shots of espresso
    We heard a Bach concerto

    Vi likes a hot
    Peppermint mocha latte
    On a cold winter’s day

    I like my frappuccino
    Double-blended with light ice
    It’s worth the price

    I ate a slice
    Of banana nut bread
    I was well fed

  • My Life With Severe Mental Illness

    I’m in a deep malaise
    It goes on for days

    I lack energy
    Please pray for me

    I long to be free
    From this mental catastrophe

    I’m so weak I despair
But I remember Christ is near

    I have no motivation
    It’s a bad situation

    I hear many a voice
    It’s not my choice

    Sometimes I have a delusion
    I feel confusion

At times, I have mania, you see
I wonder why it happens to me

    I also have hallucinations
    Due to my mind’s machinations

    I struggle with anxiety
    I worry incessantly

    Major depression is no joke
    My mind is broke

One day, my mind will be sound
    The change will be profound

  • The 5 Solae of The Reformation

    We are saved
    By sovereign
    Grace alone
    We are justified
    By faith alone
    Good works
    Play no part
    Our faith
    Is predicated
    On Scripture
    Alone
    We affirm
    Salvation
    Through Christ
    alone
    For the glory
    To God alone
    Scripture alone
    Is our final
    And only
    Infallible
    Authority
    Christ alone
    Is our Mediator

  • A Christmas to Remember

    Outside
    Is a winter wonderland
In the falling snow, I stand

    On telephone poles
    Hang angels
    And bells

    I see couples
    Taking a sleigh ride
    The roads were wide

    I stood
    Under mistletoe
A kiss, a beauty did bestow

    I saw children
    Making a snowman
It was finished per the plan

    At home
    We trimmed the Christmas tree
The colored lights made me happy

    A mountain of
    Wrapped gifts I beheld
    Santa Claus, I extolled

    He landed on our roof
    With his sleigh
    Reindeer pulled it this day

    Children skated
    On a frozen pond
    Winter coats, they donned

Vi and I sat in the dark
The room is illuminated, you see
By the colored lights of our tree

We felt happy and at peace
    In our nativity scene
    This Christmas has been keen

    My two sisters and I
    Soon went to bed
Dreams of Christmas were in each head
