• Chosen By God

    God had chosen me
    To be His child
    Before the Earth’s
    Creation
    Thus His Elect
    Were selected
    Not according
    To any inherent
    Characteristic
    Belief
    Or qualities
    Or works
    It is a mystery
    Only God knows
    On what basis
    We were chosen
    Before the
    Effectual call
    Before
    The Holy Spirit
    Quickened our souls
    And we were
    Regenerated
    Passing from
    Spiritual death
    To life
    God’s sovereign
    Grace
    Is irresistible
    To mankind
    We are, in fact
    Saved by
    God’s grace
    Through faith
    In Christ
    The natural man
    Is Satan’s child
    I was a total
    Depraved
    Wretched sinner
    On my own
    I could do nothing
    My sin nature
    Poisoned everything
    Within me
    I thank the Lord
    For saving me
    Make sure you
    Sincerely repent
    And believe
    The Gospel
    Salvation of man
    Is totally
    Monergistic
    It is God alone
    Who orchestrates
    Our salvation
    We are passive
    He is in supreme
    Control
    The only thing
    We bring
    Is our sin

  • An Exposition of the Gospel

    The Gospel is simple
    Yet it’s profound
    Whether a schoolboy
Or a scholar, it can astound

Jesus came to earth as a babe
    He was without any sin
    He died as a substitute
    Jesus was a propitiation

    The Holy Spirit overshadowed
    The Virgin Mary
    She conceived Jesus
    Mary and Joseph did marry

    The natural man
    Is, by nature, a sinner
    After hearing the Gospel
He repents; his belief is sincere

    As believers, we affirm that
    At Calvary, Jesus died
But on the third day, He rose
We, the Church, are His bride

God has predestined the Elect to be saved
His reasons for choosing us are a mystery
When He sends the Holy Spirit
We receive the effectual calling you see

We are saved by God’s sovereign grace
    Through faith in Christ alone
    This grace is irresistible
I thank the Lord that Jesus did atone

    When we’re born again
Also known as being born from above
    We receive a new nature
This was done according to God’s love

    Before we’re saved
    We’re spiritually dead
Only God can make us spiritually alive
I thank God for the blood Jesus shed

    Jesus fulfilled every single prophecy
    Written about the Messiah
    The Jewish religious leaders
    Treated Him like a pariah

  • St. Patrick

St. Patrick had a Christian faith
That was very strong and devout
He preached the Gospel with zeal
He didn’t need to yell or shout

    St. Patrick traveled to Ireland
He built monasteries far and near
    He won over pagan tribes
To faith in Christ so sincere

St. Patrick used a 3-leaf clover
    To explain the Trinity
    It’s a simplification
    To teach an abstract entity

    St. Patrick was born again
His faith was rooted in Scripture
In the history of Christianity in Ireland
    He was a fixture

St. Patrick lived to see that
    His monasteries were working feverishly
    The monks copied Scripture
They survived the Dark Ages brilliantly

St. Patrick loved the Emerald Isle
    In his lifetime, Christianity came
    To rule supreme in Ireland
He ignited, spiritually, a roaring flame

  • Christmas Eve Reflections

My sister Vi and I had
    Three feet of snow
    We had nowhere
    At all to go

    We sat by
    The warm fire
    For adventure we had
    A strong desire

    We ventured outside
    You see
    A winter wonderland
    Greeted Vi and me

    Everything was under
    A blanket of snow
    It was so beautiful
    And quite a show

    Millions of diamonds
    Dazzled in the light
    It was a cold, dark
    Winter night

    Homes were decorated for Christmas
My favorite was the colored lights
Vi and I admired them all
    We loved the holiday sights

    We arrived back home
    Vi cooked fresh kielbasa
It’s nice to eat familiar food
It brought to my mind much nostalgia

    We went to bed
It was now Christmas Eve, late at night
We awoke at 3 in the morning
We looked out our windows at quite a sight

    It was Santa Claus himself
His sled had every type of gift
    We ran downstairs
    We were very swift

    Beneath our beautiful Christmas tree
There was a mountain of presents
We shook some of the gifts
    Trying to guess their contents

    We couldn’t open the packages
    Until our parents awoke
We jumped into our beds and fell back asleep
I wished for music CDs of the Baroque

  • A Fine Winter

    My sister Vi and I
    Sat down for some tea
    It was chai for her
    And Darjeeling for me

    We engaged in
    Quite an enjoyable conversation
    We talked for hours
    It was great communication

    Then we played
    A game of Scrabble
    It was so much fun
    Next, we read the Bible

    It was a chilly
    December day
    Christmas was only
    Two days away

    We walked around
    The park
    We went home
    When it got dark

    Vi cooked us
    A big batch of chili
    We pet a Golden Retriever
It licked our fingers, so frisky

    We ate dinner
    Then retired to our beds
    And rested our
    Weary heads

    Christmas would
    Be here soon
    Outside and shining
    Was the moon

  • Depression Blues

    I’m in a deep malaise
    It’s gone on for days

    I have no pep
    In my step

    In my bed, I languish
My mind is full of anguish

I lie in bed day after day
    I have much dismay

    Motivation I lack
    I’m under a mental attack

Every day, I fight my depression
    It’s for my sanctification

    One day in Heaven
I am free of all sin

    Christ’s glory I will extol
With my mind, heart, and soul

  • Springtime

    I love this
    Time of year
    We celebrate that
    Springtime is here

    There are green leaves
    On every tree
    I feel young
    And completely free

    I hear many a bird
    Singing a sweet melody
    They sing together
    As they fly above me

    I see moss
    Covered in fresh dew
    On the brick wall
I see signs of life anew

    Bees are buzzing around
    Landing on each flower
    Pollinating is
    Their secret power

    I spied a buck deer
    Wandering in a field alone
He was licking a salt stick
    His peacefulness shone

    I found a stream
    There I saw many toads
    They jumped in the grass
    And crossed the roads

In Christ alone I find the Son of Man

In Christ alone I find the Great Physician
In Christ alone I find the perfect Lamb of God

  • Dispensationalists and Missions

While it is difficult to quantify “missionary work” into a single dollar amount across all of history, the claim that dispensationalists have been a dominant financial and operational force in American missions is historically accurate in several key ways.

Although “Dispensationalism” is a theological framework rather than a single denomination, its adherents have been the primary drivers of the modern Independent Mission Movement and the largest evangelical sending agencies.

    1. The Rise of Independent Missions

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, many dispensationalists became wary of “mainline” denominations (like the Presbyterians or Methodists), fearing they were becoming too liberal. This led to the creation of faith missions—agencies that operated independently of any single church.

    • China Inland Mission (now OMF International): Founded by Hudson Taylor, this was heavily influenced by dispensationalist theology and became one of the largest missionary organizations in the world.
    • SIM (Serving In Mission) and TEAM: These massive, multi-million dollar agencies were founded on dispensational principles and have historically sent thousands of missionaries from North America.
    2. High Financial Commitment

Data consistently shows that theologically conservative and evangelical groups (where dispensationalism is most common) give a higher percentage of their income to missions compared to mainline Protestant or Catholic groups.

    • Higher Tithing Rates: Research from groups likePhilanthropy Roundtableindicates that evangelical and charismatic groups (often holding dispensational views) report average giving levels of 4% to 8%, compared to roughly 2.9% for mainline Protestants.
    • The Southern Baptist Exception: TheSouthern Baptist Convention (SBC)is the largest Protestant denomination in America and has historically been influenced by dispensationalism. Their International Mission Board (IMB) is one of the most well-funded missionary arms in history, currently supporting over 3,600 missionaries.
    3. The “Zeal for Missions”

Church historians often note that dispensationalism’s focus on the “imminent return of Christ” created a sense of extreme urgency. This “any-moment” expectation of the Rapture drove a disproportionate amount of funding toward global evangelism.

    • George Ladd, a prominent theologian, famously noted that it is “doubtful if there has been any other circle of men” who have done more to promote a “zeal for missions” in American history than the dispensationalists (A Short History of Dispensationalism).

    Dispensationalists / Evangelicals

Direct evangelism and “unreached” people groups.

Independent “Faith Missions” and specialized agencies.

While a specific “total dollar” ranking is hard to prove because dispensationalists are spread across many different denominations (and non-denominational churches), they undoubtedly represent the vast majority of American Protestant missionary funding and personnel in the 20th and 21st centuries.

  • Born From Above

    I was utterly lost
    In spiritual death
    One day, the Holy Spirit
    Released His breath

    In an instant
    I was a new creation
    Saved by sovereign grace
    Thanks to Jesus’ propitiation

    Jesus the Logos
    Condescended as an infant born
He came on a cold December night
    In the early morn

    I thank the Lord
    For His incarnation
Because Jesus died for our sins
    We can receive salvation

    Being born again
Is the greatest miracle of all
It happens when God chooses us
And we receive the effectual call

    Saved by sovereign grace
    Through faith alone
    We were redeemed
    Because Christ did atone

    Spread the Good News
    Both far and near
    Man must repent
    Believe the Gospel you hear
