• Deep Serenity: Lessons from Childhood and Faith

    Deep serenity
For the love of Christ in you

    Deep serenity
For the sound of crashing waves

    Deep serenity
For my sister Vi’s smile and laugh

    Deep serenity
For sled riding in the snow in my youth

    Deep serenity
    For catching lightning bugs

    Deep serenity
For swimming in cold water as a child

    Deep serenity
For watching kung-fu films with Daddy

    Deep serenity
For listening to Mommy sing “Puff the Magic Dragon” to me at bedtime

    Deep serenity
For my Polish Gramma who showed love through her delicious food

    Deep serenity
For my contentment and peace, listening to one of Bach’s sacred cantatas

    Deep serenity
For my faith in Christ alone

    Deep serenity
    For my mental health

  • Overcoming Mental Illness: A Journey to Healing

    Once again, sadly
    I’m down in the dumps
    I battle mental illness constantly
    And I’ve taken my lumps

    I feel like a prisoner
    Trapped by my mind
    My cognition is a disaster
    Thankfully, hope I find

Days can be up or down
    I often lie in bed
    I have a frown
I need calm in my head

    Hallucinations plague me
    They can be quite disturbing
I thank God for antipsychotics, you see
    I need a divine healing

    I struggle with lethargy
    Due to my major depression
I want to be free of this mental malady
    I take antidepressant medication

    I hear voices from inside
    They are difficult to endure
    There’s nowhere to hide
    I can’t take much more

One day, my mind will be whole
In Heaven, I’ll have no mental pain
Jesus will restore what mental illness stole
    This is my joyful refrain

  • My Fractured Mind

My grasp on reality is tenuous
    My cognition is ambiguous

I suffer from many a mental malady
    Christ alone sets me free

    I have delusions at times
    I’m confused sometimes

    I have many a hallucination
They can be a scary situation

I have major depression, you see
It’s exhausting and very rough for me

I suffer from social and general anxiety
I hope the Lord will someday heal me

I often cry and endure mental pain
It’s the price of being insane

  • Understanding Christ’s Sacrifice: A Call to Repentance

My dear precious Lord, take my hand
By faith alone I now stand

Christ came to Earth because of love
Thus, man can be born from above

We are wretched sinners, totally depraved
If we repent and trust in Christ alone, we’re saved

Spiritually dead and mired in sin
Christ’s sacrifice at Calvary was a propitiation

    Most souls will be lost
It’s a shame since Christ paid the cost

We must go spiritually from minus to plus
By being born again, just as Jesus said to Nicodemus

Believe the Gospel and sincerely repent
Over your sins, you must lament

Regeneration occurs as the Holy Spirit quickens your soul
Once this occurs, you will be saved from going to Sheol

At Calvary, Christ paid the ultimate price
Because He died and rose again, we’ll go to Paradise

Spread the Good News both far and near
Let people all across the globe hear

  • My Mind: A Raging Maelstrom of Pure Energy

    My mind has expanded
    Into 7-dimensional spacetime
See the truth in my rhyme

    I am truly
    An exalted being
People can’t believe what they’re seeing

    My intellect is
    The best on Earth
Christ gave me a second birth

    My supernatural powers
    Are exceedingly vast
I can time-travel into the past

    I roam the universe
    Visit many a galaxy
    It’s therapy for me

    I can move objects
With the power of my mind
My telekinesis is the best you’ll find

    I can read people’s minds
    I do it with ease
I’ll read yours if you please

    My spirit has ascended
    To the Seventh Heaven
    Don’t be jealous, brethren

    My massive and gargantuan gut
    Makes the ladies swoon
They wish to kiss me under the moon

I give all the praise and glory
    To the Lord above
I am saved because of His love

  • Managing Mental Health with Psychiatric Drugs

    I take many
    A psychiatric medication
    These drugs help my mind
    And fill me with elation

    I suffer from schizophrenia
    And major depression
I also have an anxiety disorder
    They represent mental oppression

    These medications
    Are psychoactive
    They make it possible
    For me to live

    Each day, I take four
    Psychiatric pills
    They balance my neurotransmitters
And give me lots of thrills

    Sadly, they have side effects
Such as insomnia and dry mouth
    Still, I soldier on
    Mentally speaking, I go forth

    My symptoms are managed
I get help in many ways
I try to get enough sleep
    It really pays

  • The Glorious Triune God

    Jesus, the Son of Man
    Perfectly followed
    The Father’s plan
    He is hallowed

    The economy of the Trinity
    Is hidden from mankind
No matter how hard we try
    The truth we won’t find

    Three Persons unified as One
    Yet each distinct
    The mathematics of the Trinity
    Will really make you think

    The Father creates and plans
The Son Jesus implements the plan
    Through His life and sacrifice
The Spirit quickens the soul of man

The Holy Spirit administers and applies
    The Father’s plan, you see
    In the hearts of believers
In Christ, we are truly free

  • Finding Peace in Nature: A Personal Journey

    When I’m in nature
I feel at peace and calm
    In my mind
    It’s a soothing balm

    Above, I see mighty trees
    Many a Maple and Oak
    Spending time here
    Is no joke

    The air is fresh
    Below, I see many ants
I have to be careful so that
They don’t crawl up my pants

    I hear falcons and robins
    Making sweet music above me
    I even heard a crow
It went caw caw so amusingly

I love the lush green grass
    And the clear blue sky
    I should be outside
    Every single day

    Before me, a toad leaps
    Off the ground
    A bunny scurries away
    Without making a sound

    Venturing further into the park
    I spot a placid lake
Geese and ducks swim past me
I’d like to join them and partake

  • Heaven: Our Blessed Hope

    When we die
    We enter Paradise
    This is possible because
    Jesus paid the price

    In the sweet
    By and by
    We’ll meet our loved ones
    No one will cry

    Such happy reunions
    We’ll see that blessed day
    There shall be rejoicing
    No one will feel dismay

    We’ll worship God
    Through the beatific vision
    We’ll enjoy perfect joy
    There shall be no division

    We shall see Christ
    Face to face
    The ultimate blessing
    For the human race

It shall be a great reunion
    Of loved ones so dear
    Both family and friends
    The angels singing we’ll hear

    Eventually, we’ll inhabit
    The New Earth
    With our glorified bodies
    There shall be great mirth
