  • Being Reformed: The Essentials

    The following beliefs make a person Reformed.

    • Calvinist soteriology (TULIP).
    • Affirming the 5 Solas.

    These are the sine qua non of being reformed!

    Covenant theology is not essential to being reformed. It was inherited from Rome. Scripture teaches dispensationalism. The truly reformed, including myself, affirm believer’s baptism, not infant baptism. The latter was inherited from Rome. An amillennial eschatology also came from the Catholic church. A biblical eschatology is premillennial (and a pre-trib rapture).

    Confessions are useful, and they contain much good. However, a believer can be reformed without being confessional. I affirm much in the WCF and LBCF, but I disagree on some key points, such as covenant theology. Many Reformed tend to treat confessions as if they are infallible and inerrant. Confessions are not inspired by God. We must be careful not to make them idols. I am not a fan of theological straitjackets. Sadly, many believers are placing confessions above the revelation by the Holy Spirit, which illumines the truths of Scripture. If a believer is convinced of the truth, such as dispensationalism, yet their church adheres to a Reformed confession, they will be forced to ignore the Holy Spirit and side with the confession. This is Satanic.

    We can jettison the parts of reformed confessions that are at odds with the clear and plain meaning of Scripture. Having the right hermeneutic is absolutely critical to ensure we are accurately exegeting Scripture as we arrive at an interpretation.

    My hermeneutics affirm the historical, grammatical, and literal ( plain meaning) interpretation of Scripture, unless the context indicates otherwise.

    Sadly, most Reformed no longer recognize the Reformation exhortation of Semper Reformanda (Always be reforming). If they did, they would remove the confessional theological shackles and allow the Holy Spirit to lead them into all truth.

    The resurrection
    Proved that Christ
    Is God
    The natural man
    Is spiritually dead
    His nature is
    Sinful
    God chose
    The Elect
    Before
    The foundation
    Of the earth
    The Holy Spirit
    Quickens
    The Elect’s soul
    They are
    Regenerated
    They now have
    A new nature
    They are
    Spiritually alive
    God gifts them
    Sincere repentance
    And faith
    Regeneration precedes
    Faith
    Those who are
    Regenerated
    Will delight
    In performing
    The good works
    That God has
    Prepared for them
    Those who are Elect
    Will want to
    Obey the Lord
    Christ must be
    Our Savior
    And Lord

  • Around the World

    I traveled to Spain
    But got stuck in the rain
    This is my sad refrain

    And watched a dance

    No composer is his match

    I traveled to South Korea
    And had some tasty kimchi
    It was enough for me

    I traveled to Vietnam
    And had a pho bowl
    The quality I do extol

    I traveled to Russia
    And visited Red Square
    I didn’t feel safe there

    I traveled to Sweden
    And ate a smorgasbord
    Such yummy food, I wasn’t bored

  • The Gospel: An Exposition

    On a cold
    Winter morn
    As it was foretold
    Christ was born

    Behold the incarnation
    Of the God-Man
    He became a propitiation
    He followed the Father’s plan

    In Bethlehem city
    Christ was born
    To the Virgin Mary
    As a man, He’d face scorn

    He grew up well
    Proficient in carpentry
    Christ had nothing to sell
    His birth made history

    Apostles he gathered
    He would teach many things
    Their questions He answered
    He is the King of Kings

    At Calvary Christ bled
    He was a sinless sacrifice
    He died in our stead
    Christ paid the ultimate price

    On the third day
    He surely rose
    The apostles were in dismay
    It is we, sinners, Christ chose

    We must spread the gospel
    Both near and far
    Sin and death, He did topple
    Rejoice, this news is wunderbar

  • Summertime Storm

    Why did Satan

  • Amazing Grace

    At Calvary
    Christ bled
    He died
    In our stead

    The God-Man
    Came out of love
    Man would be lifted
    To the heavens above

    On the cross
    Christ did atone
    We must trust
    In Him alone

    We are saved
    By God’s sovereign grace
    It is available
    To the human race

    All who will be saved
    The Father gives to the Son
    Through Christ alone
    We have won

    We are chosen by God

    Merits salvation

    The Holy Spirit
