• A Poem for St. Patrick’s Day

    The shamrock
    Green and proud
    Symbolizing
    Irish people
    Three leaf clovers
    Patrick used
    To teach pagans
    The Trinity
    Kiss
    The Blarney stone
    This emerald isle
    A people who
    Resisted tyranny
    Bruised and beaten
    But not conquered
    The Irish monks
    Preserved
    The Gospel
    And Scripture
    During
    The Dark Ages
    We owe them
    Much
    I take pride
    In being Irish
    May she forever
    Follow Christ

  • Whales

    Silent travelers
    Immense in size
    Ocean dwellers

    Denizens of the deep
    Once hunted cruelly
    They did weep

    Undecipherable communication
    Sound waves carry thoughts
    Utilizing amplification

    Circling the planet
    Social creatures
    What secrets they transmit

  • Christ Heals

    Eyes are sore
    Pain I abhor

    Yearn to be
    Totally pain free

    Thoughts are dour
    Disposition is sour

    Won’t despair
    Because Christ is there

    He heals my every need
    At Calvary He did bleed

    Every pain is gone
    As Christ’s light shone

    Truly happy all day
    My pain went away

  • My Day

    I laid in bed
    Like a beached whale
    This is my
    Sad tale

    I am lethargic
    With no energy
    It is a condition
    Full of pity

    I feel fatigued
    And depressed
    This situation
    Makes me distressed

    I want to run
    And play
    But it won’t
    Happen today

    I flip
    And flop around
    Where is my
    Energy to be found

    I will pray
    Tomorrow is better
    Meanwhile I’ll
    Check the weather

  • Rocky Mountain Life

    The rugged mountains
    I now go
    Will cultivate the land
    With plow and hoe

    A quaint log cabin
    I’ll erect
    Mountain life is hard
    Not what I did expect

    I’ll trap and hunt
    And fish
    All the food I get
    Will be delish

    When the snow comes
    I will be prepared
    I’ll sit by the fireplace
    And won’t be scared

    I’ll read many books
    To pass the time
    Mountain life
    Is sure sublime

  • Injury

    My neck
    Is in pain
    My cries make
    A mournful refrain

    I slept
    On it wrong
    Now I sing
    A sad song

    I have faith
    Jesus will touch me
    Then I’ll be healed
    Free of misery

  • Ouch

    My arm
    Is in pain
    It’s driving
    Me insane

    I am
    Suffering
    Woe is me
    I’m recovering

    Please heal me Lord
    I need a touch
    My ailments
    Are much

    I know
    My God can heal
    I will pray
    Until it is real

  • Our Only Hope

    Do not let
    A soul pass by
    Lest their soul
    Should die

    Share the gospel
    To young and old
    They won’t know it
    Unless they are told

    Christ the spotless Lamb
    Was our sacrifice
He paid for all our sins
    We gained Paradise

    God’s sovereign grace
    Is the sole remedy
    It alone can cleanse us
    From our total depravity

    We were born in sin
    From Adam our federal head
    We wish to do good
    But we do evil instead

    Once the Holy Spirit
    Quickens a man’s dead heart
    He is born again
    And gets a fresh start

    Man is regenerated
    And given the twin gifts
    Of repentance and faith
    The gospel uplifts

    So share the Good News
    With friend and foe
    Watch God move
    And see His Kingdom grow

  • Insomnia

    I lay awake
    I want to rest
    A deep sleep
    Would be best

    To slumber
    Like a log
    I’d be as happy
    As a hog

    I desperately
    Want to dream
    I get so mad
    I could scream

    Tossing and turning
    All night long
    There is something
    Seriously wrong

    I will pray for
    Sweet tranquility
    When I’ll snore
    And repose peacefully

  • Untitled

    Vi and I
    Are as poor
    As church mice

    This situation
    Is quite worrisome
    And not nice

    We must budget
    Our money
    Quite carefully

    Coupons are
    A must
    We accept charity

    Our appetites
    Are huge, but we must
    Have portion control

    We must lose weight
    No food after dinner
    Must be our rule

    Our bellies are
    Reducing in size
    They will soon shrink

    We shall fast
    And become more slim
    It’s harder than you think
