    I’m listening
    To a Bach fugue
    It’s apparent
    His talent was huge

    A master of counterpoint
    His harmonies were heavenly
    He knew many styles
    Synthesized them most excellently

    I first heard Herr Johann Sebastian Bach
    When I was but five years old
    His Brandenburg Concertos
    Hooked me on musical gold

    Bach wrote over one thousand pieces
    Sacred cantatas and works for keyboard
    Passions, concertos, and pipe organ too
    Listening to his music you’ll never be bored

    He said the chief aim of music
    Is to glorify the Lord
    Bach did this
    In music and word

    On Bach’s manuscripts he wrote “Jesus Help”
    And “Glory to God alone”
    In Bach’s music
    The gospel shone

    He had a staggering genius
    Unrivaled in musical history
    Yet he was humble
    As can be

  • Ukraine Analysis

    Noam Chomsky, the MIT professor and writer, is about as far left as you can get. He despises Putin, yet Chomsky has said in an interview that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was not unprovoked. Bush’s invasion Iraq was unprovoked and unjustifiable. Unlike the US, Russia had reason to invade.

    1. There was much talk about Ukraine joining NATO in recent years. This was a direct security threat to Russia. When the Soviet Union dissolved, NATO and especially America promised Russia it would not expand into former Soviet nations.
    2. America had been interfering in Ukraine’s democracy for years, the US was able to convince the leftist party to cut down trade with Russia, which would negatively effect Russia’s economy. In 2014 the conservative Pro-Russian candidate won the election but was then shortly impeached, there were some saying that Russia interfered and got him elected while there were some saying that the impeachment was a US backed coup. This led to mass protest with the Ukrainian government cracking down on the Conservatives who were majority Russian nationalists who spoke Russian. This crack down went so far to limit the use of the Russian language.
    3. The Donbas area of Ukraine attempted to break off from Ukraine which resulted in a civil war which became a proxy war between US and Russia. The U.S. gave weapons and money to Ukrainian government while Russia did the same for the Separatist. Russia, Germany and France brokered a cease fire in Ukraine known known as the Minsk 2 agreement, Russia reports that for the past 8 years the Ukrainian Government broke the cease fire bombing civilian areas in the Donbas, French intelligence reported the same thing as Russia. Ukraine and US denied it saying that the Separatist were breaking the ceasefire. According to Russia, they are defending the the oppressed Russian nationals in Ukraine while also pushing back NATO expansion which has been progressing towards Russia’s sphere of influence.

    I took a walk

  • Towards A Biblical Patriarchy

    Background

    Patriarchy—literally, “the rule of the father,” from the Greek patriarkhēs—is any systemic structure in which men or the eldest male hold the power, particularly over women, typically within a household but also in broader society. It has been with us since the time of Adam and Eve.

    Scripture is clear that the man is head of his family. His wife is to obey him and the children should obey their parents.

    Man is called to love his wife as Christ loves the Church. She will submit to his God-given authority.

    Patriarchy Elucidated

    The following points should be considered in a biblical patriarchal system:

    • God reveals Himself as masculine, not feminine.
    • God ordained distinct gender roles for man and woman as part of the created order.
    • A husband and father is the head of his household, a family leader, provider, and protector.
    • Male leadership in the home carries over into the church: only men are permitted to hold ruling positions in the church. A God-honoring society will likewise prefer male leadership in civil and other spheres.
    • Since the woman was created as a helper to her husband, as the bearer of children, and as a “keeper at home”, the God-ordained and proper sphere of dominion for a wife is the household and that which is connected with the home.
    • God’s command to “be fruitful and multiply” still applies to married couples.
    • Christian parents must provide their children with a thoroughly Christian education, one that teaches the Bible and the biblical view of God and the world.
    • Both sons and daughters are under the command of their father as long as they are under his roof or as long as they are the recipients of his provision and protection.
    • Women should not vote.
    • Higher education is not important for women.
    • Unmarried adult women are subject to their fathers’ authority.
    • Women should not have careers outside the home.
    • Women should not serve in the military.
    • Women should not serve in the government.
    • Women should never attempt to correct or argue with their husbands.
    • Women should not attend higher education (colleges and universities).

    Hierarchy Is Baked into Creation

    Adam’s headship in marriage was established by God before the Fall, and was not a result of sin.

    1. Eve was created as Adam’s helper
    2. Eve was created after Adam and is therefore secondary to him
    3. Eve was “taken from the man” and is therefore secondary to him
    4. Adam named Eve, making her subordinate to him.

    Conclusion

    Scripture makes it perfectly clear that a patriarchal system is the best. It has been the norm for thousands of years. Only with the rise of feminism in the 1960s did we see opposition to this system. The resulting immorality and destruction of the family were directly tied to feminist thought and activism.
