• Springtime Meditation on Easter

    Spring flowers
    Are in full bloom
    We are celebrating
    Christ’s empty tomb

    Jesus rose
    On the third day
    Conquering sin and death
His glory was in full display

    I smell
    The fresh Spring air
    The fragrant tulips
    Smell so fair

    The tiger lilies
    Have fresh dew
    It is my sin
    I wish to eschew

    Christ’s perfect sacrifice
    For the sons of earth
    Made possible
    Our second birth

    The sun
    Is shining bright
    Christ is
    The uncreated Light

    I look forward
To the rapture of the Church
    You don’t want to be
    Left in the lurch

  • The Storm

    It’s a lazy day
    I am feeling
    Mostly okay

    I hear
    The thunderstorm
    No need for fear

    The rain
    Makes lovely percussion
    It makes me feel sane

    Suddenly
    A loud crack of thunder
    What strong energy

    The wind howls loud
    Our windows rattle
I spot a big black cloud

    Lightning sizzles
    Such ferocity
    The rain now drizzles

    God’s creation
    Is so wondrous
    It sends me to elation

  • A Memorable Day at Sea

    Our ship set sail
    For the ocean deep
    We traveled far
    As I did sleep

    Huge waves
    Lashed our craft
    We almost capsized
    But our hull did last

    Finally we had calm seas
    We spotted a whale
    It was huge
    This was no fairy tale

    It was a humpback
    Air came out its blowhole
    Such a majestic creature
    It had precise control

    We lowered a mic
    Into the sea
    We heard whale song
    A captivating mystery

    The whale leapt
    Into the air
    It was an amazing feat
All I could do was stare

    Finally our ship turned
And set a course for home
This was a day to remember
    So ends my poem

  • My Lamentation

    This is my sad tale
    My cognition became slow
    And I had dissociation
    Twenty-four years ago

    I was stricken down
    In my prime
    By mental illness
    It was not sublime

    Psychiatrists said I had
    Schizophrenia, major depression
    And anxiety disorder too
I felt bad about my situation

    I started hearing
    Inner voices
    They are distracting
    It is nonstop noises

    I also have visual
    Hallucinations
    They are disturbing
    It is not just imaginations

    I take a variety
    Of psychoactive medications
They helped me to a degree
    But I still have visualizations

    Life with severe mental illness
    Is not easy
I thank God for allowing me to hurt
I unite my suffering with Christ freely

    I must wait until Heaven
    To have a sane mind
    But I treasure my life
    And what I may find

  • The Second Coming of Christ

    Christ will return
    As the last trumpet blows
    When will this happen
    Only God the Father knows

    Christ shall be on
    A steed of white
    His glorious appearing
    Shall cause a fright

    From His Mouth
    Shall come a sword
    He shall slay
    The Satanic horde

    Then begins
    The Millennium
    Christ ruling the world
    Putting it into equilibrium

    It will be like
    No time before
    There shall be peace
    Upon every shore

    Then we shall see
The New Heaven and New Earth
    It will be comprised
Only for people of the second birth

  • Yuletide

    It’s that magical time
    Of the year
    When most people
    Have good cheer

    On a cold
    Winter morn
    Christ Our Savior
    Was born

    God displayed
    His love
    By sending Christ
    To earth from above

    We’ll feast on fruitcake
    Plum pudding and eggnog too
    On this special day
    Fasting we will eschew

    We’ll decorate
    Our fresh Christmas tree
    We’ll hang the mistletoe
    And the holly

    We dream of a Christmas
    That’s full of snow
We want a pure white landscape
    Let the colored lights glow

    After singing carols
We’ll tuck in for the night
    Our head full of memories
    Of our Christmas so bright

  • Infant Baptism: A Polemical Poem From A Reformed Baptist

    Infant baptism
    Is an abomination
    Those affirming it
    Are lacking in education

    Scripture is totally silent
    On the matter
    Not a single explicit case
To be found in a chapter

    This doctrine of demons
    Has sent billions to Hell
    They trusted in their baptism
    And so they fell

    A display of Popery
    Devoid of all truth
    Those who follow it
    Accept a doctrine most uncouth

    Baptism is a mere symbol
    It does not regenerate
    This Satanic ritual
    Christ does hate

  • Rome

    Let us consider the Papist
Oh the truth he must twist

    The Romish church is apostate
    Doctrine they do fabricate

    Their beloved Magisterium
    Belongs in a sanitarium

They worship Mary and the saints
    Practicing idolatry that taints

Their pope sits on a throne of sin
    He let the Devil in

    Their blasphemous mass
    I must pass

Their popes are not infallible at all
    They all will fall

Come out of her my people
    Though you may be feeble

Repent and believe the gospel today
You will soon be on your way

    Depart the church of Rome
    Thus ends my poem

  • Good News for Sinners

    Spread the gospel
    Near and far
Use a boat, plane, and car

    We are all sinners
    Condemned to a spiritual death
We’d be in Hell with our last breath

    But there is Good News
    Christ died for all men
His blood can wash us there and then

    Let everyone hear
    The Good News
It is God Who will choose

    Faith comes by hearing
    God’s Word
    Our soul is stirred

    Before the world’s foundation
    God chose His Elect
They may not be who you expect

    Repentance and faith
    Are gifts from the Lord
We are not saved by our own accord

    The Holy Spirit
Quickens our soul to our elation
    We are a new creation

    Thank God
    For His effectual calling
Without it we’d all be perishing

    Christ’s active obedience
    Made salvation a possibility
He hung on Calvary to set men free

    Preach the gospel boldly
    It is Christ’s command
    This He does demand

  • Christmas Forever

    I am filled with dismay
I wish it could be Christmas
    Every day

    The time for merriment
    Is now passed
    Making memories that last

    We’ve taken down
    The Christmas tree
    It’s now just a memory

    The decorations
    Had to go
    We miss the snow

    We’ll have to wait
    To hang the holly
    Our Christmas will be jolly

    Till next holiday season
    When we celebrate Christ’s birth
    And enjoy Christmas mirth
