Springtime Meditation on Easter

Spring flowers
Are in full bloom
We are celebrating
Christ’s empty tombJesus rose
On the third day
Conquering sin and death
His glory was in full displayI smell
The fresh Spring air
The fragrant tulips
Smell so fairThe tiger lilies
Have fresh dew
It is my sin
I wish to eschewChrist’s perfect sacrifice
For the sons of earth
Made possible
Our second birthThe sun
Is shining bright
Christ is
The uncreated LightI look forward
To the rapture of the Church
You don’t want to be
Left in the lurchby Zachary Uram

The Storm

It’s a lazy day
I am feeling
Mostly okayI hear
The thunderstorm
No need for fearThe rain
Makes lovely percussion
It makes me feel saneSuddenly
A loud crack of thunder
What strong energyThe wind howls loud
Our windows rattle
I spot a big black cloudLightning sizzles
Such ferocity
The rain now drizzlesGod’s creation
Is so wondrous
It sends me to elationby Zachary Uram

A Memorable Day at Sea

Our ship set sail
For the ocean deep
We traveled far
As I did sleepHuge waves
Lashed our craft
We almost capsized
But our hull did lastFinally we had calm seas
We spotted a whale
It was huge
This was no fairy taleIt was a humpback
Air came out its blowhole
Such a majestic creature
It had precise controlWe lowered a mic
Into the sea
We heard whale song
A captivating mysteryThe whale leapt
Into the air
It was an amazing feat
All I could do was stareFinally our ship turned
And set a course for home
This was a day to remember
So ends my poemby Zachary Uram

My Lamentation
This is my sad tale
My cognition became slow
And I had dissociation
Twenty-four years agoI was stricken down
In my prime
By mental illness
It was not sublimePsychiatrists said I had
Schizophrenia, major depression
And anxiety disorder too
I felt bad about my situationI started hearing
Inner voices
They are distracting
It is nonstop noisesI also have visual
Hallucinations
They are disturbing
It is not just imaginationsI take a variety
Of psychoactive medications
They helped me to a degree
But I still have visualizationsLife with severe mental illness
Is not easy
I thank God for allowing me to hurt
I unite my suffering with Christ freelyI must wait until Heaven
To have a sane mind
But I treasure my life
And what I may findby Zachary Uram

The Second Coming of Christ

Christ will return
As the last trumpet blows
When will this happen
Only God the Father knowsChrist shall be on
A steed of white
His glorious appearing
Shall cause a frightFrom His Mouth
Shall come a sword
He shall slay
The Satanic hordeThen begins
The Millennium
Christ ruling the world
Putting it into equilibriumIt will be like
No time before
There shall be peace
Upon every shoreThen we shall see
The New Heaven and New Earth
It will be comprised
Only for people of the second birthby Zachary Uram

Yuletide
It’s that magical time
Of the year
When most people
Have good cheerOn a cold
Winter morn
Christ Our Savior
Was bornGod displayed
His love
By sending Christ
To earth from aboveWe’ll feast on fruitcake
Plum pudding and eggnog too
On this special day
Fasting we will eschewWe’ll decorate
Our fresh Christmas tree
We’ll hang the mistletoe
And the hollyWe dream of a Christmas
That’s full of snow
We want a pure white landscape
Let the colored lights glowAfter singing carols
We’ll tuck in for the night
Our head full of memories
Of our Christmas so brightby Zachary Uram

Infant Baptism: A Polemical Poem From A Reformed Baptist

Infant baptism
Is an abomination
Those affirming it
Are lacking in educationScripture is totally silent
On the matter
Not a single explicit case
To be found in a chapterThis doctrine of demons
Has sent billions to Hell
They trusted in their baptism
And so they fellA display of Popery
Devoid of all truth
Those who follow it
Accept a doctrine most uncouthBaptism is a mere symbol
It does not regenerate
This Satanic ritual
Christ does hateby Zachary Uram

Rome
Let us consider the Papist
Oh the truth he must twistThe Romish church is apostate
Doctrine they do fabricateTheir beloved Magisterium
Belongs in a sanitariumThey worship Mary and the saints
Practicing idolatry that taintsTheir pope sits on a throne of sin
He let the Devil inTheir blasphemous mass
I must passTheir popes are not infallible at all
They all will fallCome out of her my people
Though you may be feebleRepent and believe the gospel today
You will soon be on your wayDepart the church of Rome
Thus ends my poemby Zachary Uram

Good News for Sinners
Spread the gospel
Near and far
Use a boat, plane, and carWe are all sinners
Condemned to a spiritual death
We’d be in Hell with our last breathBut there is Good News
Christ died for all men
His blood can wash us there and thenLet everyone hear
The Good News
It is God Who will chooseFaith comes by hearing
God’s Word
Our soul is stirredBefore the world’s foundation
God chose His Elect
They may not be who you expectRepentance and faith
Are gifts from the Lord
We are not saved by our own accordThe Holy Spirit
Quickens our soul to our elation
We are a new creationThank God
For His effectual calling
Without it we’d all be perishingChrist’s active obedience
Made salvation a possibility
He hung on Calvary to set men freePreach the gospel boldly
It is Christ’s command
This He does demandby Zachary Uram

Christmas Forever

I am filled with dismay
I wish it could be Christmas
Every dayThe time for merriment
Is now passed
Making memories that lastWe’ve taken down
The Christmas tree
It’s now just a memoryThe decorations
Had to go
We miss the snowWe’ll have to wait
To hang the holly
Our Christmas will be jollyTill next holiday season
When we celebrate Christ’s birth
And enjoy Christmas mirthby Zachary Uram
