• My Broken Mind

    I have
    A disjointed mind
    Sanity for me
    Is hard to find

    I take
    Psychoactive medication
    When I have psychosis
    I try meditation

    I sometimes
    Fly into a rage
    So I read Scripture
    And turn the page

    I get
    Very depressed
    And full of lethargy
    I feel sad and dejected

    I eschew
    Social interaction
    I like being at home
    And enjoying relaxation

    I have PTSD
    Violent imagery
    Triggers me
    I take my meds religiously

  • The Pilgrims

    These godly folks
    Set sail
    Aboard wooden ships
    Some people were frail

    They ventured far
    To a new land
    By the captain’s
    Steady hand

    Many of them were escaping
    Religious persecution
    A fresh start
    Was the solution

    They traversed
    Turbulent seas
    Thanking God
    On their knees

    The landed
    At Plymouth Rock
    Here their ship
    Would dock

    They established
    A Christian theocracy
    This form of government
    Is purely godly

    During the first winter
    Many they could not revive
    Native Americans
    Taught them to survive

    The natives and pilgrims
    Had a bountiful feast
    They thanked God
    From greatest to least

    Millions of us
    Are their kin
    They all
    Resisted sin

    It was a
    Utopian society
    Homogeneous
    They made history

    Sadly our society
    Is now pagan
    And filled with the ungodly
    May Christ hasten

  • Untitled

    I lay in bed
    And rest my weary head

    I try to slumber deep
    But I cannot sleep

    I wish to dream
    Of a clear blue stream

I sleep for half a day
God keeps the demons at bay

    Now it’s time I wake
Some tasty food Vi will make

  • Demons

    Demons
    Come out at night
    They cause me
    Quite a fright

    The demons blaspheme
    They fly overhead
    Right over
    My bed

    They are black
    With red eyes
    If you aren’t alert
    They could hypnotize

    I rebuke them
In the name of the Lord
    They shriek in pain
As I wield the Spirit Sword

    In Christ I am
    More than a conqueror
    The demons
    Must surrender

    These demonic entities
    Are not my imagination
    They exist in reality
    And cause me consternation

  • Afternoon in the Country

    I entered
    The carriage
    I was new
    To marriage

    We went
    At a slow pace
    The cool autumn air
    Caressed my face

    We traveled along
    The country road
    Passing quaint farms
    We even spotted a toad

    We had afternoon tea
    At the grand hotel
    Biscuits were eaten
    I shared the gospel

    A husband and wife
    Repented and turned
    From their sins that day
    Eternal life they received

    We were soon
    Back home
    I began reading
    A good tome

  • The Prey

    The majestic bald eagle
    Takes flight
    The sun is
    Shining bright

    He’s searching
    For a prey
    He must feed
    His children today

    His sharp eyes
    Spot a tasty hare
    Emerging from
    Its lair

    It prepares
    For the kill
    Oh what
    A thrill

    The eagle swoops down
    Just above the ground
    Its talons catch the prey
Oh what a bounty it found

    He flies back
    To his nest
    Killing is what
    He does best

    Hungry little mouths
    Need fed
    And then his children
    Will go to bed

  • Untitled

    The time is right
    For a sweet delight
    There’s something
    In the air tonight

    I will fly
    In the sky
    With the eagles
    As time goes by

I will howl at the moon
    And make your heart swoon
    With a loud voice
    Until the afternoon

I will bray at the lass
    Just like a jackass
    Hee haw! Hee haw!
    This too shall pass

    I ran in the rain
    And it made me insane
    Now I have
    A defective brain

  • In Christ Alone

    When I feel unloved
    And full of fear
    Christ is there
    He is always near

    When I am down
    And depressed
    Christ is there
    I am no longer distressed

    When I have
    An anxiety attack
    Christ is there
    There’s nothing I lack

    When I have
    Disturbing visual hallucinations
    Christ is there
    To calm my mind’s machinations

    When sanity
    Seems far away
    Christ is there
    And my mind is okay

    When doubts
    Cloud my mind
    Christ is there
    It is grace I find

    When Satan attacks
The Lord rebuke you I say
    Christ is there
    I no longer have dismay

    When I have
    Inner voices
    Christ is there
    And the disturbance subsides

  • Johann Sebastian Bach

    I’m listening
    To a Bach fugue
    It’s apparent
    His talent was huge

    A master of counterpoint
    His harmonies were heavenly
    He knew many styles
    Synthesized them most excellently

I first heard Herr Johann Sebastian Bach
When I was but five years old
    His Brandenburg Concertos
    Hooked me on musical gold

Bach wrote over one thousand pieces
Sacred cantatas and works for keyboard
Passions, concertos, and pipe organ too
Listening to his music you’ll never be bored

He said the chief aim of music
    Is to glorify the Lord
    Bach did this
    In music and word

On Bach’s manuscripts he wrote “Jesus Help”
    And “Glory to God alone”
    In Bach’s music
    The gospel shone

    He had a staggering genius
    Unrivaled in musical history
    Yet he was humble
    As can be

  • A Magical Christmas

    It’s that magical time
    Of the year
    When people are joyful
    And full of good cheer

    Lend me
    Your ear
    It’s wonderful Christmas
    Songs you’ll hear

    The tree has
    Colored lights blinking
    Beautiful ornaments
    And tinsel glittering

    Serve up the eggnog
    And tasty foods galore
    There are no treats
    That I abhor

    We’ll take
A sleigh ride in the snow
    The birds in the air
    Put on a show

    We sing carols
    All through the night
    The Christmas star
    Shines bright

    On this day
    Jesus was born
    On a cold
    Christmas morn
