Now praise the Father
And the Son
With the Holy Spirit
Three in One
We give to You
Our highest praise
We shall worship You
All our days
Christ ransomed us
From eternal perdition
You cannot be saved
By your own volition
We are saved by
Grace alone
It was Christ
Who did atone
God chose His elect
Before the world’s foundation
It was totally by His good pleasure
This act alone saved us from damnation
We Reformed affirm
The doctrines of grace
Otherwise known as Calvinism
We run the good race
Spread the gospel
To friend and foe
We plant the seed
The Holy Spirit lets it grow
One must hear the gospel
And sincerely repent
They must then believe the gospel
This is a one time event
We are justified
On the basis of faith alone
Works play no part
Christ is our cornerstone
Totally unmerited is
Sovereign grace
It alone can save
The human race

One response to “A Doxology”
TBH I don’t think this really works as a poem. At least not yet. It is a series of statements held together by a forced rhyming structure. It has nothing to orientate one to the real world, no emotion, no sense of wonder or excitement nor anything that tells us why you wrote it. Think about your first hand felt response as a man, not your secondhand theological thoughts and use that as a key to unlock your ideas and create a unique perspective. Or maybe tell a story. It also need attention to form:- meter and line length consistency is absent. For a poem to succeed you need to feel the beat!
