Saturdays in the 1980s
We went to the mall
Century III
We had a ball
We walked
What seemed like miles
So much to do
We all had smiles
Looking at all the books
Was really great
We each got one book
There was nothing to hate
We threw pennies
Into the water tank
There were so many coins
I watched my penny as it sank
When we got hungry
There was plenty to eat
Au Bon Pain and Potato Sack
Orange Julius made it complete
My sisters – Vi and Tanya
Made the time pass fast
We laughed, joked and chatted
We had a blast
I had my very first coffee
At the Coffee Tree
I’ll never forget the aroma
I got it for free
We also visited the pipe shop
Pipes were arranged so neatly
Oh the aroma of the tobacco
It was heavenly
It was fun to see
The women with big hair
They used cans of hair spray
To achieve a look so debonair
Playing video games
At the arcade was so fun
I’d be in there
Until set the sun
We’d all pile into our car
A 1976 Volkswagen Rabbit
Powder blue
This mall was such a good habit
Sadly Century III is no more
It’s condemned and run down
But I still have my sweet memories
When it was the best mall in town
