Childhood

I had a happy
Childhood
We’d play all day
In the Meadowbrook neighborhood

We’d laughed, joked
And cried
My sisters Vi and Tanya
Were always by my side

We’d bury treasure
In the Big Yard
Life was pleasant
And not hard

We’d dance
In the rain
And make mud pies
It was nice to be sane

We’d collect
Insect shells
And listen to
St. Bernard’s church bells

We’d pick
Strawberries by the handful
Our mood was
Always playful

With knowledge of evil
Innocence is lost
Such a high
And terrible cost

We’d make snow angels
On a cold winter day
We had so much fun
We’d ride in our sleigh

These precious memories
Will stay with me for all time
My childhood was magical
So ends my rhyme
