From Ireland
My ancestors fled
The potato famine
Some of them wed
A new life
In America awaited
Their hopes and dreams
Were not deflated
Their children
Got a good education
They got nice jobs
It was a better situation
Still they longed
To visit Ireland once again
To see those green hills
Their longing caused pain
The best gift
Some of them received
Was to be born again
Satan no longer them deceived
They completely renounced
Their errant Catholic dogma
And embraced true belief
God was now their Father
Salvation is totally
Undeserved and unmerited
God’s sovereign grace
Made them adopted
