My childhood memories are precious
I had a happy youth
I was not uncouth
When I was 5 years old
I ran in the rain
It made me insane
We collected lightning bugs
I pet bumble bees
And skid my knees
From morning till dusk
I played all-day
I was truly gay
My sister Vi and I
Played Red Rover
We always won by bulldozing the opponents over
I soaked my feet
In the crick
I drew chalk art on brick
My sisters and I
Had such fun
When it came to playing we were never done
In the winter
We went sled riding
We made snow forts for hiding
All year long we looked forward to the yuletide
Christmastime was such a treat
Endless gifts and yummy food to eat
In the summer heat, we cooled off
With rainbow-flavored snow cones
It really quenched our heat zones
Springtime meant running in the grass
At Easter, we celebrated Christ’s resurrection
Our parents kept us in the proper direction
In autumn
We jumped in piles of colored leaves
We had such fun revelries
I thank God for giving us
A childhood that was wonderful, magical, and sublime
Here ends my rhyme

One response to “Childhood”
We had good times together! I love the freedom we were given to run around our neighborhood! There are many wonderful memories that I have that will last with me forever!
