The Cult of Mary

Since the mid-second century AD, there has been a growing cult, in the Roman Catholic church, which is based around Jesus’ mother Mary.

Over time, this cult has grown, and now counts hundreds of millions of followers.

The Cult of Mary has refashioned the biblical Mary, adding many superfluous and extra-biblical doctrines, which are purely the fallible and vain traditions of men.

This cult seeks to usurp Christ’s role as the sole mediator between God and man and replace it with Mary. Mary becomes a goddess that is prayed to, her intercession is necessary, not Christ’s, she is hyper venerated (hyperdulia) and receives the latria which is due to the Triune God alone.

Churches are built in Mary’s honor, numerous statues are erected and members of the cult bow to them, and pray to them, even though the Old Testament clearly condemns this as idolatry. Paintings of Mary are kissed and venerated.

Roman Catholics are urged to bring their prayer intentions to Mary. The reasoning is that if Mary asks Jesus for an intention, He will be obligated to acquiesce to Mary’s request. Implicit in this thinking is the notion that Mary can alter God’s will. That she can get Him to do something He wouldn’t normally do. This is a Satanic attack upon God’s sovereignty. It actually nullifies His sovereignty and makes Mary the sovereign one.

It is clear that the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches have an inordinate and unhealthy fixation on Mary. The focus should be all on Christ.
Mary is not Mother of the Church, Queen of Heaven, the New Eve, the New Ark of the New Covenant, and other titles the RCC and EO churches bestowed upon her!!!

Roman Catholics uplift Mary as their goddess, but she is dead as there is absolutely no biblical record of Mary being assumed to heaven, as we read about Christ in Acts 1:9, or Elijah in 2 Kings 2:11.

There’s also absolutely no biblical record of Mary being sinless. In fact, Mary says that God is her Savior. Christ, Who is without sin, took Mary’s sins and our sins away upon sincere repentance. Besides, Romans 3:23 says that all have sinned, with the exception of Christ, of course.

There’s absolutely no biblical record of Mary being a virgin. How can she when she had at least 6 other children after Christ according to Matthew 13:55-56? Also in Matthew 1:25, the text says Joseph didn’t have sex with Mary until *after* Jesus was born. Matthew 1:25 “and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.”

Roman Catholics pray to Mary every single day using the rosary. This is a vain and repetitious prayer. Roman Catholics ask Mary, instead of Christ, to intervene in their supplications to her. Roman Catholics look to Mary as being full of grace when John 1:14 says that Christ alone is full of grace and truth.

Roman Catholics bow down on bended knee, in prayer, to statues of Mary. That goes against Psalm 115:4-8. You pray to who you worship. Roman Catholics consider Mary as sinless or immaculate when it is Christ Who is without sin in 1 John 3:5, 1 Peter 2:21-22, 2 Corinthians 5:21, and Hebrews 4:15.

We share the gospel with Roman Catholics. It is clear that the cult of Mary is unbiblical. It is so deeply ingrained in the Roman Catholic church, that if a member rejects any of these doctrines of Mary, they are excommunicated and outside the Roman Catholic church.
