Halcyon Summertime of My Youth

Oh how I long
To return to
The Big Yard
And walk barefoot
In the lush
Verdant grass
To hear
Crickets chirping
Collecting
Cicada shells
From pine trees
With Vi my sister
Swimming
In the cold waters
Of the
Brentwood pool
Getting delicious
Snow cones
And foot long
Licorice
Running all-day
Exploring
The neighborhood
Catching
Lightning bugs
Once the sunset
We rode
Our Big Wheels
For hours

  1. Wow Zak this is an amazing poem! You should get this published! It brought back memories of our childhood together! I miss those days! We had such a special time together!
