Uncle Eddie was our shepherd
God’s Word was heard
Daddy and Jay would talk all-day
I felt gay
Mommy was the lead singer of the worship team
Listening to her sweet voice was like a dream
My sisters and I loved Vacation Bible School
We’d sing “Yes, Jesus Loves Me”, it was so cool
The Bible skits were so fun
We’d laugh and play and run
In Vermont, I went to the summer Bible camp
Sometimes the ground was damp
The Christmas cantata was great
The production was first-rate
The pizza muffins and lemon drink couldn’t be beat
They were a tasty summer treat
Going to church on Easter Sunday was the best
We were nicely dressed
I cherish my baptism by full immersion in the pool
I was 10 and still in elementary school
