A Typical Day for Me

I woke up
To a new day
I felt totally gay

Slowly
I got out of bed
I had a weary head

My sister Vi
Made me a cup of coffee
It’s steam I could see

For breakfast
I had eggs over easy
They were even cheesy

I drank
A small glass of orange juice
And ate a bowl of chocolate mousse

I took my morning medications
These psychiatric drugs help me
I felt footloose and fancy free

A little TV I watched
I lay back down
I was depressed and had a frown

I lay there
Like a beached whale
This is my sad tale

Another day
That I’m depleted
I feel defeated

I long to have more energy
To laugh, run, and play
I have nothing left to say
