In the book Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers by Dane Ortlund. He portrays a meek and mild Christ.
The book is aimed at Christians suffering from discouragement and depression. Ortlund asserts (based on a single sentence by Christ) that Jesus is fundamentally gentle and lowly in His essence.
The biblical Christ is tough and mighty. He will be returning as the fearsome Lion of Judah.
Ortlund’s Christ is divorced from His biblical attributes. He overemphasizes one aspect of Christ, and asserts that aspect is fundamental and who Christ truly is at the core. This is eisegesis.
Ortlund promotes an insipid, weak, feminine, and milquetoast hippie Christ.
It teaches the false doctrine that some of God’s attributes are more essentially His nature than others, and those attributes which are most essential are gentleness and lowliness.
The false teaching of Crossway’s “Gentle and Lowly”

One response to “Gentle and Lowly: Unbiblical”
Yes, I agree with you that Jesus is mighty and strong! He is never anything like a lowly person! The Bible says that Jesus has all the best qualities, and I have always believed that!
