Battling Depression

I lie in bed
Like a beached whale
Here is my
Sad tale

I’ve been suffering
For a quarter century
I’m sick and tired
Of this mental misery

I lack
Motivation
This is a bad
Situation

I long
To run and play
Instead, I’m trapped inside
And full of dismay

The seasons
Pass me by
All I want to do
Is cry

My malaise
Makes me want to scream
I wish this was
Just a bad dream

I try not
To despair
I know that my family
And Christ care

I will fight
I won’t give up
In the meantime
I’m a depressed pup
