My Struggle

I have mental anguish
The pain is unending
Oh how I’m lamenting

My mind isn’t whole
I have mental illness
This disease is vicious

Somedays I’m fine
Yet many days I struggle
My sanity is in trouble

I try to remain calm
I get help from medication
Sometimes I have elation

I often experience
Delusions and hallucinations
It’s my mind’s machinations

One day Christ will heal me
I’ll carry this cross until then
I don’t know when
