Life With Mental Illness

I’m feeling high
Like I can touch the sky

I have hallucinations
My troubled mind’s machinations

Today I feel half insane
My sanity does wane

I am not certifiable
My cognition isn’t reliable

I do not belong in an asylum
Such a place is a bedlam

I do my best each day
I pray my mental illness goes away

It’s been a quarter of a century
That I’ve struggled fiercely

  1. I like the rhyme schemes! I know that mental illness is difficult to deal with. I pray that God gives you peace and the strength to manage your mental illness. The medicine is helping you, I know that!
