A Vietnam Soldier Comes Home

The soldier
Went to war
He wondered
What he was fighting for

Combat
Was fierce & deadly
He narrowly averted death
Providentially

He returned home
To insults & jeers
He felt unappreciated
He cried many tears

He felt guilty
For surviving
When his comrades died
He had PTSD & wasn’t thriving

Finally, he got help
His emotional scars
Were healing
For him, there are no more wars

He repented
And believed the gospel
He was born again that day
In the chapel

He is now
A man of peace
Slowly his demons
Did cease
