The Elect

God chose us
The Elect
We had spiritually
Many a defect

We were not chosen
Because of anything we did
It was God’s good pleasure
After sinning, Adam hid

Original sin
Taints every soul
We deserve damnation
Spiritually, we are as black as coal

Out of love
Christ came to earth
He would die and resurrect
Giving man a second birth

God’s Elect were predestined
The Holy Spirit quickens our soul
We receive the gifts of repentance
And faith in Christ alone Whom we extol
